Judges

In bail hearings, the judge listens to the Defense, the Officer of Pretrial Services, and the State (aka “the prosecutor”) and then makes a decision on whether or not the defendant’s pretrial living conditions need to change. For example, the judge can decide to keep the defendant in jail until they have to appear in court for trial or let them go home with an ankle monitor.

During all bail hearings, all defendants are legally innocent.
